The Israeli Lobby: A Creature of US and World Imperialism

By Brian Schwartz

Democratic and Republican politicians often cite the Israeli Lobby as a monster set up to destroy the career of any politician that incurs its wrath. This is a phony scapegoat. The truth is that no time since Israel’s founding in 1948 has Zionism been so vulnerable to criticism. It is quite clear that Israel is out of line and that there is a growing sentiment among thinking U.S. Citizens that it is high time to end aid to Israel.

The Israeli Lobby is a favorite child of the U.S. Ruling Class, just like the “defense” industry lobby. Both these lobbies serve the long-term strategies of U.S. domestic and foreign policies.

These lobbies seldom have to hard sell their special needs to Congress. They merely keep lines of communication open between the politicians and their clients in Israel and the captains of the defense industries.

Zionist Israel is an imperialist creation whose very existence is predicated on its usefulness to U.S. Imperialism. Israel would be mortally crippled if the United States terminated its generous subsidies, which Noam Chomsky claims exceeds the federal aid given to most U.S. States.

Many U.S. Citizens are baffled by why Israel gets so much material aid from the U.S. Israel plays a vital roll as a spoiler of Arab unification in the Middle East. Great Britain foresaw the divisive role a Jewish Homeland in the Middle East could play to keep the Arabs from uniting and controlling their resources. Imperialists have always looked for ways to divide their subjects. Introducing an armed colonial settler movement has kept the Arab masses off balance for decades.

Israel earned it’s U.S. subsidies by militarily defeating Nasser’s United Arab Republic Forces in the ’67 war. Israel crushed this attempt made by Arabs to unite the Middle East. No serious attempt has been made to unite the Arab masses since the passing of Egyptian President Nasser. The reactionary monarchies and brutal dictatorships imposed on the Arab peoples by British and American Imperialism has kept cheap oil flowing into the industrial plants and gas pumps of the first world.

That’s why Israel is given generous subsidies and a free hand to terrorize Palestinians and violate the sovereignty of Arab Nations.
